Story Of Jaishree - Success Story

From a dark childhood to a bright future

Jaishree’s father though working as a daily wage labourer, is an alcoholic and spends whatever he earns on alcohol without giving a second thought to his family. This leaves only her mother whose annual income amounts to a meagre Rs. 60,000, to fend for the family. Enrolled as a Nanhi Kali in 2014, Jaishree has made tremendous progress, both in school and in life. The support by Project Nanhi Kali motivated her to do better and make her family proud. So much so that, she even won a Maharashtra State Council Education scholarship reserved for backward classes. An ecstatic Jaishree thanks and gives all the credit to her “CA didi” (Community Associates) at Project Nanhi Kali’s Academic Support Centre, for helping her with her studies during the after school classes.

Jaishree was delighted that her school even conducted a function to celebrate her success. Her mother is really proud of Jaishree’s achievements. She wants her to be able to stand on her own feet. And for that education is of paramount importance. Nobody understands this better than Jaishree’s mother who is working as a tailor and struggles every day to make two ends meet. Jaishree’s ambition to become a teacher are being fuelled by her constant and diligent efforts and Project Nanhi Kali is always there to support her, materially, emotionally and of course academically.
